Company Lookup API Benchmark

Given only a domain, does the provider resolve it to the right company, and how complete is the record? 400 domains across 10 cohorts (from Fortune 500 to one-year-old startups, redirects and subsidiaries) are sent to each lookup endpoint.

Not measured yet. The first run of this sub-report will follow the method below.

Methodology

  1. 01
    Test set

The 400-domain set from the Company Data suite is grouped into 10 cohorts by size, age, ownership structure and domain type (primary, country TLD, redirect, subsidiary). Each provider's domain-lookup endpoint is called once per domain.

  2. 02
    Grading

Match rate is the share of domains resolved to any record; name accuracy compares the returned legal or trading name to the registry. Headcount ±20% and field fill (industry, HQ, founded, description, social URLs) are deterministic against the ground-truth record.

Questions about the Company Lookup API Benchmark

What does the Company Lookup API Benchmark measure?

It grades providers on 5 metrics: match rate, name accuracy, headcount ±20%, field fill and latency p50. It has not been run yet, so no provider is ranked on it.

How will the Company Lookup API Benchmark be measured?

Every provider will answer the same frozen, verified test set (400 domains · 10 cohorts · set v2026-08-07.1) in the same window, graded by registries + public filings (objective). Each value will get a letter grade against the rest of the field, A for the top fifth down to D for the bottom fifth.

Not automatic, on purpose: a human has to get access (or request it when there's no self-serve), plug in an API key, adapt the frozen test files to the provider's schema, then run the suites. Leave the details below and we'll take it from there, usually within a few weeks.
