People Lookup API Benchmark

Given only an email address, does the provider return the right person's social profile? 300 emails with a verified profile owner are sent to each lookup endpoint; a hit counts only if the returned profile belongs to the mailbox owner.

Not measured yet. The first run of this sub-report will follow the method below.

Methodology

  1. 01
    Test set

300 email addresses whose owner's public profile was verified by the owner or by a deterministic cross-reference (profile lists the email-domain employer and the name matches the mailbox), split into 10 cohorts: work vs personal mailboxes, catch-all domains, recent job changes, company size bands and regions.

  2. 02
    Grading

Match rate is the share of emails that return any profile; identity accuracy is the share of returned profiles that belong to the mailbox owner. Profile-URL validity is checked by resolving the URL. Field fill counts title, company and location presence.

Questions about the People Lookup API Benchmark

What does the People Lookup API Benchmark measure?

It grades providers on 5 metrics: match rate, identity accuracy, profile URL valid, field fill and latency p50. It has not been run yet, so no provider is ranked on it.

How will the People Lookup API Benchmark be measured?

Every provider will answer the same frozen, verified test set (300 emails · 10 cohorts · set v2026-08-28.1) in the same window, graded by verified profile ownership (objective). Each value will get a letter grade against the rest of the field, A for the top fifth down to D for the bottom fifth.

Not automatic, on purpose: a human has to get access (or request it when there's no self-serve), plug in an API key, adapt the frozen test files to the provider's schema, then run the suites. Leave the details below and we'll take it from there, usually within a few weeks.
